Breaking Down the Cookie Gram: A Unique Valentine’s Day Activity for Schools
Valentine’s Day at school is all about connection, kindness and community. The Cookie Gram fundraiser offers a simple, meaningful way for schools to celebrate the holiday while raising funds for childhood cancer research.
A Cookie Gram is exactly what it sounds like, a cookie with a purpose. Students donate to send Cookie Grams to friends, classmates or teachers, each one delivering a sweet treat and an even sweeter message. Every Cookie Gram supports Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s mission to fund research for new, improved and less toxic treatments for kids’ cancer.
What Is a Cookie Gram?
The Cookie Gram is a school-friendly Valentine’s Day fundraiser that combines giving with impact. Participating schools receive individually wrapped, nut-free cookies from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Students then personalize their Cookie Grams with “To” and “From” labels and share them during class parties or through schoolwide delivery.
Schools can choose from festive Valentine’s Day cookie options, including pink sprinkle lemon sugar cookies or chocolate chunk cookies. Each Cookie Gram helps turn a familiar Valentine’s Day tradition into a meaningful act of generosity.
Why Schools Love Cookie Grams
Cookie Grams are easy to organize and inclusive for students of all ages. They remove the pressure of finding individual valentines while creating a shared experience the entire school can enjoy. Teachers and administrators value the opportunity to reinforce empathy, generosity and community involvement in a way that feels natural and fun.
Because the fundraiser is organized at the school level, participation feels collective rather than competitive, making it a positive experience for students, families and staff.
How the Cookie Gram Fundraiser Works
Schools receive cookies directly from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, complete with Valentine’s Day stickers for easy personalization. Students donate a minimum of $2 per cookie to send a Cookie Gram, keeping participation accessible while still making a meaningful impact.
Each school also receives a custom fundraising page to collect donations online. Contributions can be made through credit card, Venmo, PayPal and other common payment methods, making it easy for families to participate.
How Cookie Grams Make an Impact
Beyond Valentine’s Day celebrations, Cookie Grams introduce students to the tangible power of philanthropy and teamwork. By participating, schools do more than just share a treat; they join a national movement to fund critical pediatric cancer research.
To date, Cookies for Kids' Cancer has funded 155 research grants, a monumental effort that has directly led to 60+ new treatments becoming available to children fighting cancer. For students, this turns a simple fundraiser into a lesson in global impact, showing them that the "crumbs" from their efforts contribute to a much larger movement that saves lives.
It is a powerful way to demonstrate that giving back can be part of everyday moments, proving that when a community comes together, even a small cookie can lead to a giant leap forward in medicine.
